The ICF manages five permanent endowments established as a result of the 2013 diocesan capital campaign with the intent to make an annual distribution to each beneficiary. Members of the Board are excited to make distributions for fiscal year 2022-2023, especially amidst this very difficult time, in the amount of $242,459.78. They include:

$58,406.34 from the On Going Education and Formation of Clergy Endowment to the Diocese for Seminarian Vocations

$57,121.01 from the Catholic Education and Faith Formation Education Endowment to our 15 Catholic schools for tuition assistance

$14,280.25 from the Catholic Education and Faith Formation Education Endowment to four programs:

  • St. Thomas the Apostle, Coeur d'Alene, $3,570.07 for jumpstart of Youth and Young Adult Ministry

  • St. Charles Borromeo Church and Our Lady of the Snows Church, Sun Valley, $3,570.06 for Advent and Lent Retreats

  • Salt & Light Radio, Boise, $3,570.06 for programming and outreach

  • Cabrini Co-op, Post Falls, $3,570.06 for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 2 Atrium

 

$35,401.67 from Charitable Works of the Church for Local Parish Communities Endowment to 10 programs:

Grant Awards for 2021

The Board of the Idaho Catholic Foundation made distributions from established endowments within the Foundation for fiscal year 2021-2022. We are excited to make distributions this year, especially amidst this very difficult time, in the amount of $217,628.54. They include:

  • $52,494.88 from the On Going Education and Formation of Clergy Endowment to the Diocese for Seminarian Vocations

  • $51,321.21 from the Catholic Education and Faith Formation Education Endowment to our 15 Catholic schools for tuition assistance

  • $12, 830.30 from the Catholic Education and Faith Formation Education Endowment to eight programs:

    • Our Lady of the Rosary in Boise for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 2 training

    • St. Mary’s in Boise for facility improvements and pilot programs

    • Salt & Light Catholic Radio for ongoing operations to evangelize and promote Diocesan and parish community activities

    • All Saints in Lewiston for evangelization retreat

    • Pope St. Pius X and St. Thomas Churches in Coeur d’Alene for books and virtual speaker fee for Purposefully Catholic platform

    • St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Community in Post Falls for materials, supplies and shelving for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program

    • St. Jerome’s in Jerome for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 2 training

    • St. Paul’s in Nampa for supplies and materials for small groups initiative

  • $31,806.87 from Charitable Works of the Church for Local Parish Communities to eight programs:

    • St. Francis of Assisi Conference of St. Vincent de Paul in Moscow for crisis rental assistance

    • Holy Spirit Conference of St. Vincent de Paul in Pocatello for financial assistance program

    • Risen Christ Conference of St. Vincent de Paul in Boise for rental/housing assistance for poor and underdeveloped

    • St. John’s Conference of St. Vincent de Paul in Boise for housing and utilities assistance

    • St. Vincent de Paul Southwest Idaho Council – Reentry Services in Boise for wallets, bus passes, and flip phones for individuals returning from incarceration

    • St. Mary’s Food Bank in Boise for commercial-sized refrigerator and freezer

    • Our Lady of the Valley Conference of St. Vincent de Paul in Caldwell for rent, utilities, vouchers, and transportation assistance

    • St. Theresa of the Little Flower Food Bank in Orofino for food assistance

  • $32,031.41 from the Charitable Works of the Church for Catholic Charities Endowment for counseling

  • $37,143.87 from Care of Priests Endowment for priests to Diocese for priests special needs

Grant Awards for 2020

​

The Idaho Catholic Foundation awarded $213,756.30 in grants from five permanent endowments to 34 affiliated Catholic organizations, ministries, parishes, and schools in the Diocese of Boise for fiscal year 2020-2021.

​

All 15 Catholic schools of the Diocese received a combined total of $50,481.50 towards tuition assistance programs. Four parish religious education programs received $12,620, including St. Jerome Church in Jerome, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Plummer, Risen Christ in Boise, and St. Joseph Church in Sandpoint. The projects varied from curriculum and supplies to facility improvements and youth programming materials.

​

Catholic Charities of Idaho received $31,511.85 from the Charitable Works of the Church Endowment. The funds will be used for counseling and educational services.

​

An endowment specific to local charitable works of the Church enabled the Foundation to award 12 Catholic organizations a total of $31,284.77. They include:

​

  • St. Francis of Assisi Conference of St. Vincent de Paul in Moscow for crisis rental assistance

  • Horseshoe Bend Community Pantry for entry stairs

  • Idaho Falls Society of St. Vincent de Paul for FreeMed program

  • Risen Christ Conference of St. Vincent de Paul for rental/housing assistance for poor and underprivileged

  • St. Vincent de Paul Southwest Idaho for forklift

  • Risen in Christ Reentry Conference for bus passes

  • St. Mary’s Foodbank in Boise for truck

  • Martha and Mary’s Food Pantry at St. Jerome’s in Jerome to repair a water pipe break

  • St. Clare’s Food Pantry in Caldwell for storage container

  • St. Joseph Soup Kitchen for kitchen countertops

  • St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in Nampa for food purchases

  • Our Lady of the Valley Conference in Caldwell for outreach assistance to those in need

  • Holy Apostles Conference for commercial freezer

 

The Foundation also awarded $51,716.77 for the ongoing education and formation of clergy for the Diocese. Lastly, $36,141.03 was awarded for the care of priests for the Diocese.

 

Grant Awards for 2018

​

The Board of Directors of the Idaho Catholic Foundation, Inc. (ICF) distributed over $540,000 for FY 2018-19 from five endowments established as a result of the diocesan capital campaign “Building On Our Past, Envisioning Our Future.” ICF Chairperson Alan Winkle announced that grants and distributions were awarded as follows:

Catholic Education and Faith Formation Endowment ($161,878 awarded):

​

All 16 Catholic schools received a total of $129,678.

​

Parish Faith Formation received a total of $32,200:

​

  1. Holy Spirit Catholic Community, Pocatello - $5,000 for textbooks, paint, religious art and statues, and shelving for the religious education room where K-8 can meet and have a place to call their own.

  2. All Saints Catholic Community, Lewiston - $5,000 for a family retreat conference in the fall of 2018 to further equip parents to be the primary educators of their children in the faith.

  3. Diocese Religious Education & Catechetical Leadership Office - $8,000 for parishes for continuing education scholarships for religious education leaders.

  4. Prairie Faith Formation, Cottonwood - $5,200 for classroom management skills training which includes a week-long speaker and workshop leader to train area catechists and Catholic school teachers.

  5. St. Mark's Catholic Community, Boise - $4,000 for training of catechists in new early elementary religious education based on Montessori concepts

  6. St. Peter's & Paul's Catholic Church, Grangeville - $5,000 for a parish mission for total parish education and evangelization.

Charitable Works of the Local Church Endowment ($80,409 awarded):

​

  1. St. John's Conference, St. Vincent de Paul, Boise - $5,000 for ongoing operations for home visits, vouchers, food, and help with utilities.

  2. St. Mary's Food Pantry (Boise) - $5,000 for "My Plate" program provides food boxes with real, quality and valuable nutrients.

  3. St. Francis of Assisi Conference, St. Vincent de Paul, Moscow - $5,000 for crisis rental assistance to prevent evictions and homelessness.

  4. Sacred Heart Conference, St. Vincent de Paul, Boise - $5,000 to provide for the home visit program, providing comfort and financial assistance through payments to utilities and landlords.

  5. St. Vincent de Paul, SW Idaho Council - $5,000 to help fund dining hall that provides hot meals to over 12,000 people per year.  

  6. St. Vincent de Paul, SW Idaho Council - $5,000 for prescription assistance program that helps those in poverty afford their ongoing prescriptions.

  7. St. Vincent de Paul, SW Idaho Council - $5,000 for Risen in Christ Re-entry program that provides hygiene kits to those released from prison.

  8. St. Vincent de Paul, SW Idaho Council - $5,000 for food pantry ongoing operations that provides food to over 30,000 people.  

  9. St. Vincent de Paul, SW Idaho Council - $10,000 for parking lot renovation required due to safety issues of the uneven pavement, potholes and loose gravel.  

  10. Our Lady of the Rosary Conference, St Vincent’s Paul SW, Boise - $3,500 for ongoing operations.

  11. St Mark's Conference, St Vincent de Paul SW, Boise - $3,500 for ongoing operations

  12. Our Lady of the Valley Conference, St Vincent de Paul SW, Caldwell - $3,500 for ongoing operations.

  13. Our Lady of Guadalupe Conference, St Vincent de Paul SW, Nampa - $3,500 for ongoing operations.

  14. Our Lady of Good Council Conference, St Vincent de Paul SW, Mountain Home -$3,500 for ongoing operations.

  15. Risen Christ Conference, St Vincent de Paul SW, Boise - $3,500 for ongoing operations.

  16. Joseph's Closet (a ministry of St Jerome’s, Jerome - $3,300 for new storage unit for extra clothing donations.

  17. St. John's Food Bank, Boise -$2,109 for new commercial refrigerator. 

  18. St. Mark's Food Bank, Boise -$4,000 for new storage and plastic pallets.

 

Catholic Charities of Idaho Endowment:  $81,202 awarded for counseling services and educational classes. 

​

Father Donald J. Riffle Endowment for the Care of Priests: $92,104 awarded for the care of our ill and aging clergy.

​

Ongoing Education and Formation of Clergy Endowment: $124,922 awarded for seminarian vocations and continuing education and formation of clergy.
